Playthrough Part 14 – Return to the Forsaken Fortress
Before we head for the Forsaken Fortress, we tackle one more thing: Helping the Koroks.
Yep. And the best part is that you can do this in 30 minutes or less. Guaranteed or your money back. It goes like this. Get some forest water, put it in a bottle and then you can head to multiple areas on the map and use it to pour on trees. Thankfully you can use the Ballad of Gales to travel abound and the forest water won't go bad. In the original, you got to do it in 20 minutes. Water all eight Korok trees and you'll get a piece of heart.
But the main focus happens in the Forsaken Fortress. We return and don't play around. Made better is that we get ourselves a new item: the Skull Hammer. It's going to help us out in the trials ahead especially in our fight against the Helmaroc King. The impetus that got us started on our journey, we can finally take it down. You need to use the hammer to remove it's mask and then deal damage. It can take a while but the reward is worth it. After it's defeat, that's when the revelations begin.
Basically, Link confronts Ganondorf but is unable to land a hit. Why? Turns out the Master Sword had another function. It was meant to hold Ganon's power at bay. Once Link pulled the blade from it's pedestal, the lock opened and he regained his full power. Made worse is that the blade has lost it's power. Tetra tries to save Link only for Ganon to ensnare her and then discovers her as Princess Zelda. Eventually both Link and Zelda are rescued and Valoo unleashes hell.
Link, Tetra and the King of Red Lions head down to Hyrule and it's then a bombshell is dropped. The King of Red Lions is revealed to be King Daphnes Nohansen Hyrule. He explains what happened to Hyrule after Zelda sent Adult Link back to his time. Basically, Zelda's actions basically removed the Hero of Time from her timeline. She was left alone to oversee the restoration of Hyrule. Many years would pass and for an unknown reason, the seal weakened allowing Ganon to escape. He invaded Hyrule while the people prayed for the Hero to return. The Hero never came and just as victory was within sight, the people then prayed to the gods. It's then the gods had those chosen to head for the mountaintops while they unleash a torrential flood sealing away Hyrule and changing the world forever. But you wonder why? Because had the gods destroyed Hyrule by flooding it, it would fulfill Ganon's wish. Hundreds of years would pass but Ganon would break free from the seal that was placed and now was on a hunt to find the Triforce pieces.
It's then that Tetra is revealed to be the last line of the Hyrule royal family aka Princess Zelda and bearer of the Triforce of Wisdom. Now that Ganon knows, he won't rest until he has her. As for Link, his work isn't done so he heads with the King back above. He then learns about the Triforce of Courage. After Link was sent to his own time, the Triforce of Courage would ultimately be split into eight pieces. It was as a means of preventing Ganon from obtaining the complete Triforce. We can worry about that later.
Part 15 has EVEN MORE exploration. Jeezus.
