This is LEGO 43230 A Homage to Walt Disney, the latest LEGO set celebrating the hundredth anniversary of the Walt Disney company, and the delightful news that Mickey Mouse is getting very close to the public domain.
The set, listed on the French retailer FNAC, comes with a Walt Disney minifigure, which for some reason can ride inside a movie camera kind of like it’s an AT-AT from Star Wars.
Most interestingly, the set comes with a reel of film (not exactly a standard LEGO element) which contains depictions of scenes from Disney’s history in animation, which does lead to the big lie of this particular set.
The cameras used to film The Old Mill, Snow White, and other early Disney cartoons didn’t look like this.
They looked like this. Because you don’t film animation by holding it up in front of a regular film camera.
Ah well, it’s a neat set anyway!
