The Mediocre Zone | Ark of Time (1997) Atlantis and the Weather Machine
Welcome to the Meh zone ... this time we present Trecision S.p.A. 1997 DOS adventure that over complicated itself, so much you lose the plot ... about what it should be , mix that with ambitions of presenting a 3D game in DOS (more like fake pre-renders with a 3D model) that works so SLOW ... it just boggles your mind, when you see the location transitions... not to mention like any BAD adventures before, its got horrible 1 pixel items... making you look derpy clueless, if you are stuck in a location ... but we all know , why those games where designed like this , don't we ... Phone Hotlines to sell you the clue or Clue Books ...
So, what is the story ... a archeology professor finds the chart to Atlantis, only to find... its a town build around a Magnetic rock, that can influence the magnetic waves, to manipulate weather... your a junior sports writer, with freelance pay, that is forced to find him... visiting exotic locations for clues ... that would help you find ways to OPEN THE DOOR TO Atlantis ... that you find like... 30min in ... aka, its a Bad Clone of Broken Sword (from 1996 every adventure wanted to be like it)...
So you get a boring , lifeless , no hook adventure ... that is, crap on PC... that only powered a studio existence since... wait for it ... it was also ported to PS1... when its design fits ... hence , many PS1 gamers find this game nostalgic, since on this console games like this where hard to find ... same with RTS
But if you compare it, to any other Adventure on PC ... its mediocre crap
What you get is the first 25% of the game... the other 75% is so boring you just fall asleep...
Next Game ...
PS .
People now only remember Trecision from : Alien Virus , its spin-off sequel Night Long and Watchmaker (and its ehm disaster , when all copied had a broken CP DRM trigger when the main character drank blood from vase and when he did that the game was not solvable... a patch came later on CD game magazines , but the fallout for this was semi-big for them)... and that they worked close with Cryo on its games ... when Cryo went belly up ... tiers Horror game Samhain build on the Watchmaker engine , financed by Cryo was canceled www.youtube.com/watch?v=2NA71YLJkKE ... to this day only the E3 demo is still available showing what could have been ...
