2Here is a nice Opinion about this remaster new GUI from Steam :
The UI (Helmets, Lifebar, Challenges, etc) should be 3D models like the original.
The "remaining romans counter" doesn't have that satisfying red when counting down, when you get a challenge the item doesnt fly through the screen anymore.
And the magic potion UI is the biggest joke, in the original it was a 3D model, now its a squish and squash picture? looks like a mobile game.
OUCH...
My IMO : It's a remade game with changed game logic that tried to be XXL2 but forgot the many fine touches "Étranges Libellules" the original dev added to this game ... from many missing animations (the lemmings sign moved , the candy bar columns rotated) to some models just absent from this (or even masked with fake shadows to avoid lawsuits , since this game parodied ALL games from Pacman to MortalKombat , to Rayman , Mario , Splinter cell etc...) ... its like with Uncharted Remaster Trilogy , that missed many practical effects (motion blur , changed lighting , many models remodelled to look like the original thing but done quick)
The combat compared to the original XXL 2 , also was nerfed ... and it became a horrible irritating broken to hell and back ... thing ... with padded out fights ... that's like 60% of this whole game ...
Can you still play the Original game on WIN10 ... yes you can ...the original game Used Tages DRM that could bee overcomed by a crack ... but then we go into its well innards to see its a 32bit game that has problems with 64bit systems aka more ram then 2gigs ... but , there is a fan made patch that fixes this ... letting you play the Original Vision that became cult ... then this disaster of a remaster from Anuman under their Microids brand label , that was developed by OSome Studio (You can also play the PS2 or the remastered Wii version that's 10x more fun then this redesigned sheit... heck even the PSP version that was a remaster of its own kind had a Second Co-op campaign and a Multiplayer mode... that's omitted from this remake also)
In other words its a Sheit Remake then a remaster with redone effects that tries to imitate XXL2 but fails at it, since some elements where removed ... XXL 2 was a Asterix game , that laughed at the whole gaming industry comparing it to a Joke ... but , in its remade form a joke it became
and this whole game feels like a test for theirs new engine that will power XXL3 ( and i guess in XXL 3 they will just copy/paste assets and animations from this remaster to half the production cost , ey )... but seeing the lack of comedy in it ... i don't get my hopes up
