Now that Steven Universe is over, I can definitely say, that even with all the bullcrap that sometimes goes on with that show when they try to do complex morals (and don't get me started on that last homeworld arc in terms of writing in general), this still remains as the most unrealistic scene for me.
As someone who has lived and still continues to live with controlling adults and has most of his friends also stuck in that situation, it is NEVER this easy. I don't react to things with deep negativity often, and I'm not saying that this is careless writing to the point of a public callout or something, but at the time when I saw this, I was furious.
