JAGUAR Land Rover has confirmed the introduction of a whole new range of Range Rover Sports including a hybrid and the flagship SVR, but there is a catch.
The new Range Rover Sport range has been revealed in the UK including a new hybrid model and the flagship SVR.

Jaguar Land Rover has committed its future to electrification with the introduction of the hybrid-powered Sport model.

Aside from the low-emissions variant, the other most exciting update was to the more powerful SVR model.

Under the bonnet of the new Special Vehicle Operations car is the company’s most powerful supercharged 5.0-litre V8 engine.
It generates 575bhp and 700Nm of torque, which is an increase of 25bhp, this allows the car to sprint from zero-60mph in just 4.3 seconds.

The chassis has also been tweaked as has the car’s dynamic handling, with engineers focusing on controlling pitch under heavy acceleration and braking.

Changes have also been made to the dating hardware which are said to have improved grip through the corners.

This is all great but there is a problem.
The next area the company has focused on is the cars image and dynamic styling.

Firstly, we’re not huge fans of the new carbon fibre bonnet with the integrated cooling vents.

It looks like an aftermarket upgrade somebody would’ve done to old car and it should not appear on a luxury flagship model.

It’s not even like its a strip that runs the whole length of the body - it starts and finishes on that small section of the car.

Frankly the use of carbon fibre across the exterior of the car should go.

The SVR’s new grille detailing and front bumper tweaks are however more favourable upgrades and help to give the car a sporting and dominant character in a more subtle way.

Thankfully you can spec the car without carbon-fibre and can have exterior accents finished in gloss black instead.

Inside the cabin a number of changes have been made too.
Aluminium sports pedals, and new lightweight Supersport seats which are not only 30kg lighter but heated in the front and back as standard.

We maybe wouldn’t go with the white leather though.

The car was designed and engineered in the UK at Jaguar Land Rover’s Solihull production facility.

First deliveries of the car are expected from early 2018.
