Dwarfs in the Old World are everything you expect from the most archetypical of fantasy races: short, curmudgeonly, stout of arm, fond of ale, quick to anger, and slow to forgive. Let me delve into their rich history and lore:
Dwarf history stretches back almost to the dawn of the Old World. They were among the earliest races created by the Old Ones.
These talented artisans and miners delved a mighty empire beneath the earth, constructing fortified holds across the length and breadth of the World’s Edge Mountain range.
Each hold was a magnificent capital city, a working mine, a forge, and a fortress. The Dwarfs connected these holds through the continent-spanning Underway.
However, cataclysmic earthquakes during the Time of Woes shattered the World’s Edge Mountains, destroying many holds and damaging the Underway beyond repair.
Their decline began in earnest, and the Dwarfs would be forever sundered.
Despite this, their mastery over metal endured, allowing them to imbue powerful runes of magic into their masterworks.
The Dwarfs maintained lively trade with their fellow elder race, the High Elves of Ulthuan, until a diplomatic incident known as the War of The Beard severed their ties.
Dwarfs never forget a grudge. Any misdeed against them, no matter how petty, is entered in the Great Book of Grudges, awaiting repayment in blood and treasure.

These stout-hearted beings dwell in their mountain strongholds, guarding against the predation of Orcs, Goblins, and worse.
