The Ninja is a redesigned port of the 1985 Sega R&D 1 arcade title Ninja Princess.
The game is set during Japan's Edo period. The ninja Kazamaru must journey to Ohkami Castle to rescue the princess, who has been kidnapped by the tyrant Gyokuro.
Paddy field stage is only present in the Japanese version of the game.

As usual many many many many many thanks to the C64 master, minotaurus! Hurrayyyy!
Since Commodore 64 is great but isn't the only machine on earth, minotaurus goes for nostalgia time, here's what he wrote about this game:

"This was my very first game for this console (christmas 1990).
A game that I consumed, thanks also to my brother who translated english texts for me, since I didn't understand much as a child (and knowing what the game says it's essential to understand how to complete the game).

The game is made up of 13 levels (12 + the last hidden one, which you have to find by finding the 5 "green scrolls" showing you the way to the underground hideout).
The objects found during the game are:

Red Scroll: grants a weapon that can kill more than one enemy at a time, essential to obtain the 100% aiming bonus of 50,000 points.

Blue Scroll: allows you to run very fast (and is essential for what you will see during the game)

Green Scroll (5 total): allows you to decipher the message regarding the hideout, where the princess is held prisoner.

In this gameplay I took advantage of my knowledge of the game: i brought with me all the visible enemies on the screen at that moment, avoiding respawns.
Be careful, in the ninth level I exploit a nice bug (but it lasts a long time, you can see it at 8:10): I finish the level with an accuracy percentage of 0%, possible only when you manage to get the fifth and final green scroll in this level (skipping the boss fight).

This video is part of the videogame endings database, whose goal is to catalogue and create the world's largest archive of videogame endings! (what an humble and not ambitious project :D
