This is the final version recording of my original solo piano composition, "The Odd Snowflake". I have ultimately decided that I will keep it more compressed as just an A B form juxtaposing to the ABAB form which I performed during the draft recording, as it is basically the same thing but prolonged with development. The draft was 13 minutes, so I figured it would be easier both for me and the listener to have just one go at building to the major section. This piece is constructed in D minor, using many variations of the d minor chord, pedalling techniques, strong support bass notes marking the start of beat 1 and vast rubato. The contrast is in that I want to start off very strong and end in pianississimo. I have chosen to do four repeats of the parallel major chord pattern, developing from the basic repeat 1, to slightly more support repeat 2, to repeat 3 which slowly travels upwards in register, before finishing with extreme intricacy at repeat 4, leading into the last few chords.
