The Operational Art of War IV (Crete 1941)
On May 20, 1941, the Germans began Operation Mercury, which is their airborne invasion on the island of Crete. Fresh from their victory over Greece, Germany dropped soldiers by parachute, beginning the invasion. Aerial Bombardments likewise commenced attacking Allied forces in Crete. Interdiction missions harassed units mobilizing to meet the invaders.
