what I did was installed standard armbian (xfce) than runs on kernel 5.4
I installed gdm3 (replacing lightdm) and installed ubuntu-desktop with
recommend packages. on login I used gnome on wayland, then shifted to kernel 5.6 from armbian-config (but they are 5.7 and 5.8 if you wanna try something newer but you may have regressions). the bluetooth is not working for now, and I had to disable ipv6 to have a nice experience on wifi.
