The Original Script for Sonic's Tropical Jungle Ark
I was really shocked to learn that the "Plains" cutscene took place after Egg Genesis. But upon closer inspection, going from a Desert stage into a Plains with no attempted merge of the two separate geometry locations, plus seeing the in-game cutscene go into the Plains cutscene, likewise the Plains cutscene to Tropical Jungle while not perfect, is a lot more believable than the former. It's starting to seem a very early version of 06s script had Sonic's story a lot shorter at least in terms of cutscenes/story.
I'm really glad i got to share a lot of these unused lines, even if a lot has been edited/modified to either sync better, or to have characters response and reaction a bit more natural. Most are unused lines for gameplay, but i did feel the need to swap some OG lines out, or bring in a semi-new cs to fill in the space of all the unused lines.
Tbh it's ridiculous how much was left out, but after putting all this together, i'm starting to see little details for potentially why it was cut all around. For example, Sonic says "It's getting pretty late, ill take you back to the Castle." for 1. the Castle was never implemented to gameplay, at least in a state where you would be able to actually go in a gondola, it'd take you across, and you'd be able to explore the Castle. (Which is why the results we see in this vid can be considered messy)
And 2. Sonic saying it's getting late implies that the setting was meant to change after Sonic & Elise have gone through Tropical Jungle, which while the Castle Town may look fancy with that Sunset setting, we have to remember that Sonic by himself in Tropical Jungle, didn't even change the setting. Hell Tails' Wave Ocean didn't change setting both in the final, and in promotional screenshots. It's the main reason i had it go back to Noon after Sonic returned Elise to the castle, to clear up this loose end and conclude that the Night has come, and gone. Correct me if i'm wrong, but i believe this now adds up to the "The date of this incident, was 2 days after the Festival of the Sun." That plus the confusing setting progression put together, i can see why they skipped over a lot of this, but that doesn't mean i agree with how it ended up. They really should've just postponed the game for at least a year...
