After Leon and Ada utlimately leave the RCPC Police Station and encounter something in the sewers, they ultimately get deeper into this underground part of Racoon City. In between they encounter a high value target, that may stop the infection in the city.
This encounter shows Ada, that she's not better off alone and leads to some consequences, that drive the story forward.

A small breadcrumb of what is to come in a relation ship, between characters.
One of many example why this product is by far the best remake, that has been ever created. Not just visually also gameplay-wise. It not only outbeats its source material, but also improves its narrative by incredible story-driven cutscenes, environmental story-telling and its dialogues. It also adds depth to the characters by offering some incredible DLCs.
