The Phantom Doctrine - Espionage TRPG "Easy" Ironman Campaign
A video showing the tutorial mission, and two more missions of an "Easy" Ironman campaign. This game is harsh, unforgiving and your entire campaign can fail as a result of a single failed mission. Combat is totally unadvised, and yet you fail infiltration so easily and sometimes, for no apparent (or a hidden reason) that, apart from experience in the game, you would have no way of predicting.
This is true partially because I've used Ironman mode, but even without Ironman, you will need to end up save scumming... So it's not great balance.
I don't think this game is easy - there's way too many ways to fail in the game.
I also don't like the stupid way your agents (or targets) step out of cover to get shot... Totally doesn't make any sense.
Still, it's a nicely themed 80s espionage XCom Lite type tactical game. I want to enjoy it, but I'm finding it really hard. I probably don't fully understand the mechanics here.
