Abandoned at the UN buffer zone in Cyprus lies a piece of Royal Air Force history - an Avro Shackleton.

The aircraft, which was designed to conduct anti-submarine patrols out in the North Atlantic, is lying in a field at the former RAF Nicosia.

"The aircraft was loved by those that flew it, apparently very noisy," said Captain Philip Brazier of 71 Engineer Regiment, Royal Engineers.
