While AI and Wikipedia coins the inventor Phelan, the frying method my uncle specifically used was invented by him, which he was awarded the patent in 1966. He then went to Winston and requested he perfect the design because my uncle couldn’t quite figure out the issues his cookers were having, my uncle before selling out in 1964 would lease his cookers out to restaurants. It was due to the already existing Pressure cookers and broilers that peaked my uncles interest and inspired him to start modifying the process to accommodate for his method of cooking. He took it to the US Patent office and they were confused because they never heard of putting hot fat or oil in a pressure cooker and frying under pressure. He had to demonstrate, and when he went on the Tennessee Ford show in his early kfc years, he discussed and explained this. my uncle’s invention and Winston’s was a safer and more efficient way to fry under pressure than what previously existed
