Every mainstay in pop culture has a fanbase, and each one greatly varies in size and passion, but a common theme is that each member believes THEY know what that license should do moving forward.

Nevermind the direction the actual creators want to take this property, some random enjoyer of the final product knows best, right?

No. Obviously not, giving into the demands of a fanbase is one of the worst things a studio can do. And what better game to help explain that with than my go to punching bag; Sonic Forces.

There's a bit more to it than that though, because sometimes, the fans coincidentally know best, and Super Mario Odyssey is a GREAT example of that.
