The problem with "localization" summed up in one tweet + a breakdown from an outsider perspective
On April 12 Capcom's/Crapcom's (whatever you prefer) localization team posted a statement that could have been copied from one or two online news outlets with a certain bias.
I had to read it a few times to figure out whether my brain was playing games with me or not (no pun intended).
But I came to the conclusion that it all reads like a "corporate statement" with a lot of contradictions. Which is not surprising at all considering Capcom's "current day reputation" .
It's also weird that they want to appeal to their target audience when the target audience they want is as good as non exixtent. Plus fighting racial stereotypes by injecting your own stereotypes is not a the solution to your insecurities, but I digress.
I did the work for you this time. Don't take it as an expert opinion, because my experience with Capcom games is too limited to give the best opinion on this matter.
It won't get a ton of views. Other (bigger) Youtubers will probably do a better job at this than I did with better quality videos and breakdowns (since English is not my first language to begin with and my video editting skills are non existent).
The rest is something you have to figure out for yourself.
