The Punisher gained significant popularity in arcades and is widely regarded as one of the best titles in the beat 'em up genre as well as one of the best video game adaptations of comic books.
This game marked the beginning of the partnership between Marvel Comics and Capcom, which led to the series Marvel vs. Capcom.
This is the only scrolling beat' em up based on Marvel characters, the others are all VS fighing games.

If you finish the game with Punisher alone, you'll get the same ending, while if you end the game with Fury, the endind will be still the same, but with "Fury" written in the place of "Punisher" during epilogue text.
