The Quest - Battle High 2 A+

Coming from the creator of Merfight, Battle High has a lot of the same DNA just beneath it's surface. It uses the popular 4-button layout of light and heavy punches and kicks and has a multi-level super meter like many of it's contemporaries, and it even has a universal overhead mechanic that might be expected as well as chain combos. Where Battle High really differentiates itself is with it's dash-cancelling mechanic, which would later evolve into Merfight's Pop cancels. You can cancel any normal, ground or air, with a forward or back dash for a small price in meter that opens up all sorts of fun combo extensions and blockstrings. Meter build is also rather quick in this game, meaning you'll almost always have access to the mechanic and therefore should abuse the shit out of it.
