The Saboteur - PS3 - Prologue - Spark One Up (Blind, Feckin' Hard)
6The first mission of The Saboteur, played blind on the hardest difficulty.
This is a 2009 open world action game from Pandemic Studios. You play Sean Devlin, a mechanic from Ireland, who gets involved with the French Resistance during WWII. It takes place mostly in Paris, but the giant map also features surrounding towns and countryside, as well as a part of Germany.
I'll be doing a full 100% playthrough, on Feckin' Hard difficulty, and getting all the trophies.
Gameplay includes shooting, stealth, brawling, parkour, driving, and lots and lots of sabotage. There are around fifty missions and hundreds of "ambient freeplay events", which are mostly things Sean can blow up, but also include collectibles, stunt jumps etc. I'll be splitting the playthrough up by mission, and including all the ambient freeplay, uncut, after the missions. Because of the sheer amount of free-roam in this game, many of the videos will be quite long.
Feckin' Hard means what it says, Sean dies very quickly and can't take much fall damage. Expect lots of dying, mostly by falling, as it's very easy to accidently drop off a building or misjudge a leap. The parkour in this isn't as forgiving as some games. Dying a lot actually worked out OK though, for one particular trophy. You need to spend 75000 contraband, and I just managed that before the end of the game, due to the extra ammo I had to buy through dying and losing it. Other than that, Feckin' Hard adds to the tension and forces you to play smart, so if you can cope with the deaths, this should be a fun watch.
Note: My controller had a bit of drift when I started this, but I fixed it and eventually replaced it during the playthrough.
There's a lot of copyright music on the car radio station. I'll leave some in but will probably remove some too. Bear in mind copyright music might mean more ads than usual.
