Artist Motoi Yamamoto is one of the leading practitioners of this art form, creating extraordinarily artistic effects from salt crystals. For a decade now heβs put on exhibitions all over the world, but no matter where he goes, he always brings some of the salt used in the work back to Japan to restore it to its source, the sea. So a gift that came from the sea and created great wealth finally returns home - perhaps, in the fullness of time, to emerge again to enrich and sustain human life.
