The Second Samurai - Samurai Difficulty - No Damage!
Welcome to one of the best games ever made!
I played this as a kid, it was one of my favorite childhood games. And after playing it again recently, I felt it still stands strong even in this current generation. It's such a great game with a lot of fun elements.
Every stage was recorded separately. The game includes a password system to continue from the beginning of each stage you reach. So I used that as it's fully allowed by the game itself.
At first, I was thinking about just making a video of the full game in Samurai difficulty. But as I was recording and when I reached stage 5, I started thinking: this game deserves a full no damage run. Because as I was playing I was seeing how well it was designed and how it tests your reflexes . Not knowing what really awaits me in stage 11 I still was so persistent and couldn't stop.
So I started over and once I reached stage 7 no damage, I realized another thing... if I just make a save before every stage it will be unfair since I get to keep all my knifes and keep the sword (which deals more damage obviusly) for the entire run.
Then, again, I scrapped the idea and started over. This time I did it legit... by entering the password for each stage and then saving after the password screen (just for the convenience so I won't have to keep entering the password every time I get hit)
Keep in mind though... when you enter the password you need to also switch the difficulty to Samurai each time. Because the password is not saving your actual progress. Everything resets. Just letting you know I was switching the difficulty back to Samurai for every stage.
About the difficulty level. I'm not sure if there are noticeable changes. Of course, the damage you recieve is very high. But other than that, you can see how quick the rock platforms drop in stage 1. Could it be that enemies attack more often as well? I still can't say for sure.
I would say starting fresh in each stage definetly adds to the difficulty. Since you lose all your carried weapons from the previous stage. As well as the fact that it gives variety to the gameplay. At least we can keep seeing the fists and kicks sometimes. Having the sword from stage 1 until 15 isn't as interesting. And of course, in this game, you only lose the sword when you get hit three times. There is no other way of removing it as far as I know.
Everything may look easy if you haven't played this game but, I've included some bloopers at the end of the video to show you the reality of what you have to deal with :D
Sorry that I didn't save any bloopers for stage 1. I only thought of adding a bloopers section while playing stage 2. So, from stage 2 up until 15, I've kept few failed clips out of dozens failed attempts of course XD
Enjoy the video and hopefully you also can try this game.
