Resin is the great enemy of Genshin Impact. Once you’ve completed the initial steps, it is the sole factor marring your progress. You need talents, weapon materials, ascension materials, experience, Mora, artifacts…so much to make the perfect character, and all of it requiring heaps of Resin. I’ve played this game for a year, all the while fastidiously using my resin to power up my characters, improve their artifacts, and prepare different parties for the abyss. But Today I finished my commissions so I can get Primogems for the latest…new…character, and realised.
I don’t need to use that resin.
Don’t get me wrong, I could have – not every character I own is perfect. But for most of the year I’ve been happy with a core 12 or so characters, and by now each of them is…complete. Level 89, with level 90 weapons. Their talents that matter are 9 or 10. Their artifacts, while not perfect, are good enough that I can clear the abyss without too many problems. And I have some flexibility of characters depending on what elements are best. And…that’s good enough for me.
Genshin keeps you hooked by needing to log in multiple times a day to sue your resin. That’s been my journey for a year. And while I still want new characters enough to log on for the Primogems…it makes the grind a little less.
In fact, take a step back. See if I got a new character, no matter how much I pre-farmed…I’d need to use resin. I’ve covered previously that it takes weeks to get a character ready to use. So…will I ever do that again? I don’t know. Despite seeing how fun some of them look… a Xiao constellation seems a lot less effort. So until the next Archon I might just leave my roster as it is. So while I don’t see myself quitting the game anytime soon, as Teyvat itself is still as enchanting as ever.. I am glad to see that the grind is finally at it’s end.
You might not be there yet, but give it time and you’ll conquer Genshin’s hardest challenge eventually…the freedom from the grind.
Thanks for watching, and I do still stream Genshin Impact weekly over on twitch if you want to see what I do in a world that doesn’t require resin. Links in the description right next to that subscribe button – I have lots of exciting things planned with all the grinding time I’ll be saving. But until then…best of luck in your next pull.
