This is one of those games where you almost think your console just got upgraded somehow, it looks so much bigger and faster and more colorful all of a sudden. They did a great job on this conversion except for one thing: the controls.

You see me playing the game here on a Hori PCE arcade stick, left hand splayed out with the pinky on the "I" button and the thumb stretching over to reach the "Run" button--because for some reason when you set the game to one of the two "AUTO SHOT" settings in Options (0:10) ("AVENUE PAD" / "NORMAL PAD" just toggles the action button between "Select" and "Run), while it becomes a nice simple two-button control scheme, rotate left and rotate right, one of those actions is on button "I"...but the other is not on the button right next to it, "II" ("II" is Shot in the non-Auto control schemes), but is instead on "Select" or "Run," two differently shaped buttons that are never really placed where you want action buttons to be---because they aren't supposed to be action buttons!

Ugh. (The Avenue Pad was a three button pad. : P)

So, shame about the controls. Darn shame.
