The Beat Up #34 - Double Dragon II (Super CD)
This PC Engine version is, I think, my favorite version of Double Dragon II; this remake by Naxat Soft has a real bouncy, rangy feeling to it that makes the arcade ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zkYXciVsVwA ) and NES ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HjbN8KwiO28 ) versions by Technos Japan feel a bit stodgy (still real good, though) by comparison. (Specifically, this is a remake of the NES version, that's where the 7:39 helicopter ride stage comes from, for instance.)
The Redbook audio soundtrack in this one makes a huge difference--this is the first game soundtrack I owned (well, if you own the game disc you own the soundtrack disc, that's the magic of Redbook audio ^_^) that I actually wanted to take with me to play in my car stereo. Nifty animated cutscenes here, too.
Like the earlier versions of DDII, this version has the directional button control scheme, where the left button attacks left, and the right button attacks right.
Dang just dig that soundtrack! This game rules. It was one of two key games that inspired me to get my PC Engine fixed up. : )
