The film follows the character of Harry Street, a writer and adventurer who is injured and stranded on the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro while on safari in Africa. As he waits for a rescue plane to arrive, Harry reflects on his life and loves, confronting his own mortality and the choices he has made. The film stars Gregory Peck and Ava Gardner and was directed by Henry King.
