The Surge 2 Part 24 : How to Beat Goddess Helena at the end of A.I.D. Command
0Goddess Helena is a humanoid robot boss that is found at the end of the A.I.D. Command area on our second visit and is guarding the entrance to The Great Wall area. She is very agile and comes equipped with a spear and shield and can inflict both Nano and Fire damage. She also has a laser for a face... so that's cool too.
Strategy: The Goddess Helena boss is essentially a tougher version of the GAIA Statue robot enemies that we encountered in Gideon’s Rock. In fact, it has essentially the same move set of the GAIA Statues, just with additional damage behind her attacks and a lot more health with which to soak up the hits that you can land on her.
As with the GAIA Statues, she is equipped with a spear in one hand, an energy shield in the other. With her spear, she’ll use between a 1-3 hit combo with short, fast stabbing attacks or a twirling attack that can damage anything in a 360-degree arc around her position. With the shield in her offhand, she can perform a shield bash, or a backhand attack once the shield has been destroyed.
Goddess Helena also has the ability to use her face to shoot a beam of damaging laser death at you that she can channel for a short time which will track you around the area. This is highly damaging and will inflict fire effect buildup if you get hit with it for any more than a short period of time.
Once the boss reaches around 50% health, her spear will become imbued with both fire and nano damage, making getting hit by her attacks even riskier. Her attacks remain relatively unchanged however, with one notable exception - her horizontal spear attack will now fire off a shockwave of nano energy.
As with the GAIA Statues, to fight her, you’ll need to first use a charge attack to disable her shield. Once the shield is down, focus on the boss’s animations to avoid its attacks and then inflict some damage of your own whilst it recovers. When it uses the laser attack, quickly charge to the boss and dodge to the side to avoid the beam - getting around behind the boss whilst its laser is active will allow you to have a few free hits until it disengages it.
