I think the game designers fully expected for the players to feel outsmarted by the Library Assistant by this point. They expected for it to be leading the conversation, and for us to accept what it says. The problem is that the blatant logical fallacies throughout the conversation were never resolved, or even acknowledged by the game, and it's just continuing to build on supposed conclusions that were never established in the first place.
