The Thing (PS2) - Hard - Part 5 [Final]
Still a fun game, this is one of my "yearly traditions" type of game, I play this game like once a year.
Trivia:
John Carpenter's "The Thing" is a sequel to "The Thing from Another World" (1951). And the game from 2002 is a sequel to John Carpenter's "The Thing" (1982).
In both the game and the 1982 sequel, you can see the sarcophagus from the original 1951 film.
On both of the 1982 and 2002 game covers, you can see "the thing" in one way or another. On the 1982 film cover, it's a mysterious faceless man. In the 2002 game you can see "the thing" on both the foreground (the main soldier) and a faded final form behind everyone. The front soldier (imo) looks nothing like Blake (the main hero), but he does look like Whitley (the main villain).
I don't know if this is true or not, but from the beta footage, it looks like the game was going to be a "fixed camera" game (like old school Resident Evil). But I think it was probably going to be a fixed camera game, not just because of the beta footage, but also because of the control schemes in the game, 2 of the 3 control schemes have tank controls. And tank controls (especially back in the early 2000s) came with static camera angles. I'm assuming they scrapped the fixed cameras because of the squad based mechanics and it probably clashed or didn't really feel good with the fixed cameras.
Not a lot of people like this game, I like this game, but it's not "greatest of all time" worthy for me. But I have played this game a few times more than the average person should lol. And I have watched the 1951 movie once, and the 1982 movie twice. The 1982 movie is probably one of the best sequels to a movie (like, ever).
