Vladimir Shmondenko was born on August 10, 1999, in a small town called Krishtopovka, in the Cherkasy region of Ukraine. Unlike many of his colleagues in the fitness world, his childhood wasn't marked by personal trainers, well-equipped gyms, or expensive supplements. His environment was defined by rural life: farmland, manual labor, and a modest income. From a young age, Vladimir learned the value of physical exertion not in a gym, but in the fields, lifting farm tools, carrying sacks, and helping with household chores. Hard work was a part of everyday life, not a choice.
But even in that rigorous environment, something within him shone. There was a spark of ambition, a curiosity that drove him to observe, explore, and learn. With limited resources but an unbreakable will, Vladimir began to forge his path, first by imitating exercises he saw on television or in the few videos he could upload to his phone, and then by adapting his environment to train: he used rocks as weights, sticks as barbells, and his own body as a tool for progress.
This self-learning and creative spirit was the first hint of what would come later: a young man willing to challenge convention and excel, even if the world didn't notice yet.
As Vladimir grew older, his passion for strength and training intensified. Already in his teens, he began to take a serious interest in powerlifting, a discipline centered on the Big Three: squat, bench press, and deadlift. What was striking wasn't just his dedication, but the methods he used. Without access to a professional gym, Vladimir improvised with what he had: rusty barbells, homemade cement plates, and wooden pull-up frames.
But what was most remarkable was his strength. Even without professional equipment, he began to lift weights that rivaled those of trained athletes. His progress was so impressive that some of his first social media videos—filmed with modest equipment—began to circulate. In them, he was seen performing brutal lifts with solid technique. Soon, the fitness community began to take notice.
What had begun as a self-study hobby was turning into a vocation. Vladimir not only had an incredibly strong physique, but he possessed something even more valuable: a true story. He was a living example that you don't need a fancy gym to build a formidable body. It only takes willpower, ingenuity, and persistence.
In 2022, Vladimir made a decision that would change his life forever. Inspired by prank videos and hidden cameras, he combined his love of humor with his athletic ability. Thus was born Anatoly, the character of a modest, clumsy, and absent-minded gym cleaner who asked permission to try out a machine, only to astound the others with a display of almost superhuman strength.
The format was brilliant. First, he would enter the gym dressed in simple clothes, with a mop or bucket in hand. He would pretend to be part of the cleaning crew, shyly approach the trainers or bodybuilders training with weights, and ask to use the equipment "just for a moment." Amid laughter or disdain, they would grant him permission, and that's when the show began. Vladimir, with prodigious strength, performs repetitions with impossible weights or executes perfect techniques at astonishing speeds. The reaction of others was pure magic: surprise, amazement, and confusion. And all of it was captured on camera. His videos, which began as pranks, went viral on TikTok, YouTube, and other social media platforms. Anatoly became an icon.
But beyond the character, what made Vladimir special was the intention behind the humor. He didn't make fun of others. On the contrary: his jokes were wholesome, funny, and often inspiring. They showed that behind the character was a truly strong, charismatic young man with an admirable work ethic.
Although Anatoly's humorous side is his best known, Vladimir is a true expert in physical training.
