Though we’re a few decades removed from the Golden Age of Westerns, it still remains one of the most popular genres today, with audiences hungry to consume the classics and more modern fare. The Western also seems to be having a bit of a revival now, with everything from Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone (and its numerous spinoffs) to Martin Scorsese’s Oscar-nominated Killers of the Flower Moon contributing. Director Richard Gray is also helping lead the charge with films like 2022’s Murder at Yellowstone City and his newest film, The Unholy Trinity.

The Unholy Trinity has an old-school feel in the best way and features an all-star cast that includes Pierce Brosnan as the local sheriff named Gabriel Dove, Samuel L. Jackson as a treasure-seeking mastermind called St. Christopher, and a young man named Henry Broadway (Brandon Lessard) who’s seeking revenge on behalf of his father. The film also features Veronica Ferres as Gabriel’s wife, Sarah, who’s as competent wielding a gun as she is acting as a midwife. Ferres has had an impressive career in both English and German-language films, starring in the Oscar and Golden Globe-nominated comedy Schtonk!, as well as Crisis, Salt and Fire, and Every Breath You Take.

Collider got a chance to speak to Gray and Ferres about the classic Westerns that inspired their direction and performance, making a tight, 90-minute film that still has an epic scale, working with Jackson and Brosnan, and more.
