You can't fight the big old windbag until just before the very end of the game, effectively making him the closest thing the game has to a final boss. He's not very difficult to beat, though. Since he floats in the air, several glyphs are useless. He mostly attacks by throwing bombs at you, but he also has a rather nasty attack that blows up the entire arena.
