The Wild Final Day of Filming for Coach Carter
On the last day of filming Coach Carter, the production team set out to shoot the house party scene. The house used for the scene came with strict rules—no one was allowed to access the pool or the master bedroom. However, things quickly spiraled out of control as the cast decided to live up to the party vibes they were portraying on screen.
Filming began at 5 PM, but as the hours went on, the cast got into the party spirit—complete with actual liquor. By the time the final scenes were ready to be shot, most of the cast was completely drunk. According to Robert Ri’chard, he and co-star Channing Tatum took the festivities to the next level, stripping down and jumping into the pool with some of the female cast members. Meanwhile, Antwon Tanner was upstairs in the off-limits master bedroom, also enjoying the moment with one of the actresses.
Samuel L. Jackson, the film’s star, arrived later that evening to film his part. When it was time for his character to shout at Robert to get out of the pool, the line wasn’t entirely acting—Jackson’s frustration was reportedly very real.
It’s safe to say the house party scene from Coach Carter turned out far more authentic than anyone could have planned!
