The Gamecube version of the Wind Waker was recorded from a Nintendo Wii using Component Cables at 60hz. It will look even worse running the Gamecube Composite Cables.
I purchased a Wii U for Christmas and Wind Waker HD to go with it.
Very impressed with it so far. It's definitely not a simple HD upscaling, it's a full on HD remaster of the game. A new lighting engine was used, lots of new shadows were added and the game is running at 1080p. It's beautiful.
After playing the Wii U version for a while I turned on the Gamecube version and it felt like someone put a big blur filter over the screen despite me always thinking that the Wind Waker has ages extremely well.
I definitely recommend it to those who have played the Wind Waker before!
