In this chapter, Geralt returns from the Harpies' Lair to Philippa, presenting her with a powerful dream crystal to cure Saskia, only to face an angry mob readying to lynch Prince Stennis for his alleged poisoning of the Dragonslayer. He now has to quickly gather some evidence that may or may not be damning, which involves dealing with a corrupt apprentice of the blacksmith Baltimore and finding the notes of the recently deceased cleric. In the end, despite the seriousness of the evidence, Geralt still cannot allow Stennis to be executed without a fair trial and, consequently, cannot get access to any royal blood, desperately needed to cure Saskia. The only choice now is to cross the ghostly mist and head for the Kaedweni camp, where Geralt may try his luck at collecting some blood from King Henselt himself.
