This short gives one of many reasons why I love boss fights in Elden Ring and other FromSoftware games. Here's a full transcript:

"There’s honestly something a little bit zen about getting into the zone for one or two hours as you try to beat a really difficult boss in a FromSoftware game, like Margit or Malenia or Radahn or Mohg.

You get into this rhythm, where you go into the arena expecting to die, and you repeat the fight over and over until you just become some kind of a machine – no thought, no emotions, just repetition, again and again for an hour, two hours, sometimes even three.

And the great thing this kind of mechanical zone of reptition, in my experience, is that you release yourself from any emotional attachment to success or failure. You don’t get frustrated when you lose, you don’t even register dying as losing, because you entered the arena expecting to die. The only thing you’re there to do is to commit your enemy’s combat routine to muscle memory, so you can do a little bit better next time.

And when I’m in that zone, I feel like it’s the closest I’ve ever been to feeling what it’s like to be enlightened, where not even my own death can disturb my emotions. It’s because I’m in a place where winning and losing and living and dying – it’s kind of beside the point of what I’m trying to do."

And all of this applies to all of FromSoftware's games, from Dark Souls to Bloodborne and Sekiro and Elden Ring. And especially to the Guardian Ape, which is the hardest boss fight in my life as a gamer. :)
