Theo Listston Interview | Retro Dodo | Games Journalist

On the latest episode of the TwoRandomWords Podcast, Jack Mullen was joined by Theo Litston.


Theo is a freelance games content writer for Retro Dodo, the world's leading retro gaming website. He specialises in writing features but also covers news and produce reviews, previews and guides. Prior to working for Retro Dodo he focused on his own YouTube channels, with fellow content creators Barbster 360 being the most popular.


We spoke about how Theo got interested in Gaming after playing Sonic The Hedgehog in 1991, and Games Media after reading Gaming Magazines and writing into them with his High Scores for Tony Hawks Pro Skater 3.
We also discussed the inclusive nature of Games Media, and getting into games by playing Games Demo's such as the Original Playstation Demo, Demo 1. We also talked about the culture of trading cheats from cheat books for games, and some of the gaming rumours we both heard as children. We also discussed writing cheat codes in the back of Crash Bandicoot and Croc: Legend of the Gobbos manuals.
Theo also spoke about his career path, with particular discussion around his work reviewing The Ascent on PS5, and his work for Retro Dodo.


Theo spoke about the importance of Retro game preservation, and the recent book that Retro Dodo released on the History of handhelds.
