The Induction Smelter is not a normal furnace, you can't just smelt things there. But when combining different materials: either for making alloys or for improving the output with a flux, you can make your chain of material handling very complex if you want to maximize your outcome. But important to remember: not more complex than you want it to be!
As you might have noticed, I mentioned that the normal Slag is not useless, but I edited the explanation away as the recipes might be different for all modpacks out there and it wasn't very relevant for this video. Making Clay, Dirt or Fertilizer (Phyto-Gro) is the main uses in this pack.
Don't be afraid to have several Induction Smelter setups with different configurations, where ores are sent to different stations depending on what you're in need of and how much resources you have at hand.
Using the Pyro-Concentrator will also increase the chance of secondary outcome, test runs below reveal a 130%chance of bonus outcome instead of 100% stated by the recipe.
Some test run results:
One stack of Pulverized Copper with Hardened Glass in a setup with 4x Auxiliary Sieves gave me 27 Rich Slag. Standard output is 15% which might be around 10 Rich Slag per stack.
One stack of Iridium Ore with one stack of Cinnabar in the Pyro-Concentrator setup with 3x Metallurgical Recovery augments. Instead of using all 64 Cinnabar it ended up using only 32! The outcome was:
4 stacks of Iridium (as expected)
84 Platinum (around 130% chance to get one)
One stack of Platinum Ore in the same setup as above, but with 3x Auxiliary Sieves instead. This gave me the following output:
4 stacks of Platinum (as expected)
118 Iridium (around 185% chance)
However, in comparison with the previous test the entire stack of 64 Cinnabar was used up in the process.
