303Have you ever talked to someone who doesn’t quite remember one of your favorite animated characters the same way as you do? Well, instead of diving into a black hole of wiki fandoms to prove who’s right, consider that sometimes the same characters can look different. What do we mean? Some characters’ appearances, accessories and even actions all depend on where the movie or show is released in the world. Different countries can change some of the characters we know so well for their local release. Remember the moose news anchor in Zootopia. Well, we hate to break this shocking news but he’s not even a moose in most other countries. Don’t believe us? We’ve got so many more examples up our sleeve for this one.
Many times, filmmakers and animators change details of characters in shows to appeal to local audiences or a nation’s cultures and customs. Sometimes these details are as small as adding familiar catch phrases or words to scripts. But other times, it means major changes to iconic outfits and looks. No matter the reason, these types of detailed adjustments happen more than most animation fans even realize.
