Manufacturer's goal is to keep selling you new phones! They want your phone to break. They want you to lose your password. They don't want you to reset your phone. They don't want you to give your phone to your kid or another family member. They don't want you to sell / resell you old phones.
They want to sell you THEIR NEXT PRODUCT!
One trick they are working on is to make you phone security so difficult and convoluted under the guise of "we're helping prevent theft - seriously" that you get locked out of your own phone.
Prevent that.
