Tutorial:
- the new Alembic File import/export: demo on a simple scene of a smoke setup
- export the scene into an Alembic file
- this demo show a smoke group particle sim and a dynamicSet call file I/O
- Open file I/O and you will see the AlembicExport node.
- From the right menu: AlembixExport, you can add as many particle groups as desired.
- we can choose which particle group we wish to export as an Alembic file
- we can also decide if we wish to export a file as an active time segment or as a specific range as an .abc file.
- There are several option available for export:
* export what you can see in the Viewport scene
* export a render specific operator or modifier view as we see it to an Alembic file
* export a Particle System ( an Alembic Particle System )
* or export an object group by creating one Alembic object / a particle group Alembic.
* One single Alembic file that includes everything or an Alembic file of a particle grp which is very handy as it
does it in one go.
Choosing between a variety of Alembic formats:
- Decide which channel to export to an Alembic file: immense memory saver
- For example, do we want to just export velocity? And include special things like DataChannel or not.
- To export DataChannels so that we can use the smoke operators, so in this demo
we load a new scene:
- Just the smokeGroup in there and the Import file node,
- let's use our recently exported Alembic files on this fresh scene:
- In the ImportFile node as shown, you can choose the Alembic files.
- do a playback and you will be able to see the scene without any hassles
- In this demo, we see the smoke scene and the temperature file (DataChannel) has to be in there,
- that is make sure the dataChannels for temperature has been created.
- On Import this will automatically be assigned from the Alembic file.
- a standard color gradient (smoke) can be seen in this demo
- See in folder : Natural_Fire.grd
- modify and choose the color gradient, all the particles are coming from the Alembic file, no sim going on
- it is used as a normal cache file. No more sim necessary.
- All the particles are being 'read' and scene shown from the Alembic files itself.
- Saves time. Make it easier to modify things after a simulated scene is saved.
