This Game Had an Incredible Car List - Total Immersion Racing
397Total Immersion Racing showcased some of the world’s most successful and recognisable race cars. With a focus on GT and prototype racing, much of its roster featured classic 24 Hours of Le Mans protagonists like the Audi R8, McLaren F1 GTR and Bentley Speed 8.
However, the game also featured many curios little seen by the racing game fraternity outside of mods. Mention the Quaife R4 GTS, Sintura S99 and Vemac RD320R to a motorsport aficionado and they will likely draw a blank look, but Total Immersion Racing (TIR) had them in all their obscure glory.
Although the game wasn’t the best it could have been, its mix of interesting and controversial (the Sintura was more prototype than GT) cars elevated it to a special place in the hearts of racing game fans.
20 years on from its PlayStation 2 release, we look at our favourite cars from the game and bask in some good old-fashioned nostalgia.
