Warhammer 40k's new game is upon is, coming out in November 2022, the devs decided to put out a Beta to test their servers and their game before the full release this month and I got the opportunity to play the game to find out if the game was worth buying.

Warhammer 40k Darktide is the Vermintide version of the 40k series, which honestly is great. I loved playing Vermintide and Vermintide 2 and I had some expectations for this game, I never have high expectations for games, I always think games would be bad on launch and what not just because that seems to be the trend with these new games.

Anways this game has a lot of different elements put together, like the Destiny 2 Lobby, the payday 2 style mission select, and the vermintide gameplay. I had a lot of fun with this game honestly.

Here are my thoughts on the game:

Pros:
- The extensive background selection for your character that changes the in game dialogue was a huge surprise that I did not know I wanted but now that I have it I love it.
- The Mellee combat is a huge improvement from Vermintide 2 which was already good.
- The gunplay feels rewarding and good.
- Overall combat feels good with the gore and the sounds.
- Sound design is actually amazing, from relods, to slicing enemies, to shooting, the sound in this game is actually great.
- The dialogue mid mission is actually a neat addition, with different lines depending on the background.
- The different types of missions from Assassination to Collections and other ones make it so that the missions are different from time to time.

Cons:
- The character customization itself is very limited, like the looks of the character.
- There is no armor upgrades or anything, you have a set amount of HP and toughness and all the armor so far has been just cosmetics.
- For this beta, the weapon choices are a bit limited per class, hopefully there will be more weapon choices.
- You can't simply change classes with one character, you have to make a new character everytime you want to try out a new class.
- It's a full priced game with premium currency already, I don't know what the premium currency buys, hopefully it's only cosmetics and not loot boxes and stuff like in Vermintide.
- The Beta had a lot of performance issue and didn't run the best.
- There was a lot of crashes, bugs and disconnects during the beta, but hopefully they fix it before the full release.
- There is no private game mode where you play with only your friends with bots, you have to have 4 people and no option to have a private game.

All in all, Darktide is fun, I enjoyed playing it and I already bought the full game in hopes that a lot of the issues gets fixed. I still very much enjoy the game though, and I actually am looking forward to the full release to put more hours into the game.

Warhammer 40000: Darktide is a lot of fun.
