So after playing a bunch of the medieval Kingdoms 1212 AD campaign I really feel like having a big battle like this at the start of a total war campaign could be really beneficial for the series. Using Warhammer as an example imagine fighting the battle for Blackfire Pass on your first turn as the empire or the Greenskins with cool cinematic and speeches to get you immersed with your generals.

I think the main draw back to this would be new players getting overwhelmed, however I think there are plenty of ways around this such as giving units to friendly AI army.

What do you guys think about having a massive battle at the start of the campaign?
