For those of you who don't know, before I made VGM remixes, I was in the mainstream EDM scene... specifically the Trance scene. After I had a song get played on Group Therapy 245 with Above & Beyond, I received a message on Facebook from a guy named Jerry Clark Tebbs, who was interested in a collab. I checked out his music, loved it, and decided to go for it!
Cool story though, he lived in Guangzhou, China and was an English teacher. We quickly hit it off, and I decided that when ABGT 300 in Hong Kong happened, that I would not only meet Jerry in person, but I would head to mainland China afterwards with him and make some music!
When we met in person, it was electric. Sometimes you just meet people and you know that you will be friends with them forever. I'll never forget those 4 visits I made to China to stay with him and crank out tunes, DJ in various bars, eat the BEST food I've had in the world, and see the beautiful city of Guangzhou. Our conversations, synergy in the studio, and senses of humor matched like crazy: the perfect recipe for some incredible times. So, we decided to form a duo called Wæde Wätts. We did a few shows together around the country, and we even made an album, Avenoir, that went Number 1 on the Beatport trance charts, while Anjunabeats (Above & Beyond's label) was label of the month... LOL.
Jerry has since moved back to the USA and lives in Vegas. We took a hiatus on Wæde Wätts for a little bit so Jerry could focus on having a family and with his permission, I asked if I could just go balls deep into working on Theology, and that's why I am where I am today. However, I made it clear that Wæde Wätts wasn't over. On my way to the California Desert in the winter of 2024, Maddy and I stopped in Vegas to see Jerry, and we decided to make this collab. He asked me, "how do you want it to sound?" and I immediately responded, "exactly like 'Legion' by Soundprank."
Thus, Saria's song was born by his poolside table after a few beers and some amazing conversation. The saw stabs you hear in the drop were processed by Jerry, who is an absolute legend with that shit.
Anyways... Our friendship resembles that of Link and Saria in the way of music uniting us. Though we are separated through time and space, the bond I have with him is unbreakable. I kept this video mostly simple because I wanted to highlight the friendship that Saria and Link have, and juxtapose it with ours.
Here's to more collabs in the future my guy! Wæde Wätts never died!
