This will change the way of detailing in cities skylines!
Hello people and welcome to my first English video here on YouTube. I wish you all a wonderful day. With this video I would like to introduce myself. My name is Ötte and usually I do live streams in German, as well as Let's Plays and tutorials. I prefer to play Vanilla and a year ago I had the great honor of a guest build in Imperaturs Last Angeles.
I've been playing Cities Skylines for over three years now, maybe I'll get back into CS2, but first I want to finish my current city Öttawa.
To this day I always find it interesting that there are things in the game that no one has thought of yet. At least I haven't seen anyone actively using what I'm going to show you today. If you've seen it before, please leave me a comment - I'm always happy about content that I didn't know before.
In my current live stream I'm building an old town. And as we all know, the buildings in the background always look a bit boring. So I zone the buildings so that they don't generate parking spaces, trees or anything like that. I want to have control over what the backyards look like. Unfortunately, in the vanilla game we are very limited in terms of our options - until today.
Because it is possible to place assets in these backyards that normally require a road connection. We know from numerous hack videos that assets can also be two units apart and still have contact with the road - so we take advantage of this and place an asset so that a house can still stand in front of it.
The easiest way to do this with an existing road is to convert it into a gravel road. Then you build another gravel road parallel to it with one unit distance. You can then place the assets on this. But there are also assets that you can place freely, such as the gazebos and playgrounds from the Park Life DLC. Here you just have to pay attention to which side you align them and you can place them without them being in a park. This is of course useful if the houses are in a pedestrian zone.
I think this opens up completely new possibilities for backyards. What do you think of this idea? Just leave me a comment - I'd be happy to hear it. And if you think this hack is just rubbish, then leave me a dislike - and of course a comment about why you thought it was bad.
And as always, have a wonderful day, don't do anything I wouldn't do, keep your chin up - and I see you...
