Thomas & Friends Wallpapers on Windows ME in Oracle VM VirtualBox
17I haven't been certain if anyone on YouTube has shown these Thomas & Friends wallpapers in use on Windows and Mac operating systems yet, so I decided to give this a try. It's something I have always wanted to do ever since I purchased the Thomas & Friends: The Greatest Stories 2-DVD set (released in 2010 by Lionsgate) on eBay in early 2023 (last year).
In this video, I showcase all of Disc 2's bonus desktop wallpapers from the Sodor Activity Depot software (reused from the Track Stars 2006 DVD) in the 800x600 size on one of the compatible Windows operating systems, Windows ME (Millennium Edition), released in 2000, a decade before The Greatest Stories came out on DVD. I believe it was one of the first operating systems I exported the wallpapers to, as well as one of the first operating systems I used them on, so Windows ME was an interesting choice especially since the wallpapers were expected to be mostly used on Windows XP and so on. However, in the style of Microsoft Plus! in the retro computer hobby, they can also be used on Windows 95, Windows NT 4.0, Windows 98, Windows 2000, and as seen in this video, Windows ME.
I'd say the wallpaper colors fit pretty well, don't you think? I am looking forward to showcasing these three wallpapers on even more computer operating systems! Enjoy!
