Full Run of Tiger-Heli (タイガーヘリ) for the NES/Famicom. I cleared 2 loops and my final score was 324,930. This was played on a real NES with real cart.

Tiger-Heli is a vertically scrolling shmup where you play as a helicopter flying around and destroying things. Yes, that is a very generic description but this is a pretty generic game. That doesn't mean it's a bad game, it's just a very basic and simple game.

For powerups you can pick up upgrades that give you "Little Heli" options that fire in different directions. You are also equipped with 2 bombs that can be deployed in a scatter pattern destroying everything around you. There are also items that can be picked up and give you an extra life after a certain number of them.

Sometimes you can take a hit and instead of dying and it will deploy one of the bombs instead, it seems to depend on where you are hit (near the bomb I'm guessing). I found this very unreliable so you are better off using them manually if you get in trouble.

There are only 4 levels (which goes down to 3 levels for loop 2 onward), you go about destroying tanks, turrets, hovercraft?, ships, etc. At the end of each level you get a point bonus (5000) for each bomb and Little Heli you have left, and that's pretty much it for the scoring in the game.

The graphics and music are very simple, and there is a lot of flickering and low framerate in the game which does kind of ruin the experience a bit. However, if you want a short, basic shmup that doesn't take long to learn, this one isn't too bad.
