2. Invest a little in the ability tree.
3. Don't increase starting wave. (Other than for prerequisite)

Every time you kill a boss, you get "Maximum Damage", that is, all of your abilities are activated for free for half of your ability duration. If they are already active, the duration increases.
By using Overpowered mode, you can clear bosses real quick, and thus, stack ability duration.
By the time my Overpowered mode ended, I had 12 minutes of ability duration.
